                                ACUTE GASTROENTERITIS A protozoan called Cryptosporidium causes acute gastroenteritis in a wide range of vertebrates, including humans.  Consisting of diarrhoea and abdominal pain, the condition mimics the symptoms of choleric infection.  The parasite produces life-threatening, protracted infections in immunocompromised hosts. Mode of infection and spread:- Crypto can be found in food, drink, soil, or surfaces that have come into contact with animal or human excrement. It is spread in a similar way of how cholera spreads like: Swallowing contaminated water while swimming or drinking Staying in close proximity with the domestic animals like calves and goats.
