 What is a Prostate Gland?

It is a gland found in males just below the bladder which is responsible for the secretion of seminal fluid which helps in transportation as well as nourishment of sperms. Thus, performs a vital function.

Reason for the tendency of cancer in the                             prostate gland:-

  •  Age more than 50 years
  • Tall men
  • More common in black men than asian men
  • Genetic
  • Unhealthy food habits
Symptoms of Prostate Cancer:- It is a slow growing tumor and takes a long time approx. 8-10 years for its metastatic spread to other parts of the body.
  • Malfunctioning of urinary system i.e. burning sensation, decreased flow of urine, blood in urine, blood in semen, frequent urination at night.
  • Blood in semen
  • Bone pain
  • Unexplained weight loss
  • Erectile dysfunction
Spread of Prostate Cancer:- It can spread to lymph nodes in various parts of the body which can lead to fluid accumulation and resulting swelling of the areas.
Lymph nodes>Bones>Lungs>Liver>Brain>Spine (Spread of cancer over the period of time of 20 years)

Awareness and Prevention:- Men should be openly made aware about the problem and risks associated with it.
  • Eat healthy food
  • Say Yes to fruits and No to trans fat
  • Plenty of green leafy vegetables
  • Remain sexually active
  • Daily exercise is must
